I hopped on an Amtrak train Saturday morning -- leave Kingston Station
at 7:41, arrive at Penn Station at 10:50 -- grab a taxi to take me to Sara Delano Roosevelt Park (E. Houston, between Christie St. and Forsyth St.) where I was meeting
Adam and Sam.

Sam as goaltender
Time definitely flies. He is going to be ten years old this summer.

Leah and Milo joined us a bit past noon. Sam's soccer exploits held Leah's
attention, but Milo seems more interested in Leah's iPhone.
Yes, Milo is growing also. He's going to be six this summer.
Soccer finished up sometime past one o'clock and we then set out to find some lunch. We went to Pulino's Pizzeria, just a couple of blocks away at Bowery and E. Houston. We ate a couple of large pizzas -- a Margherita (tomato, mozzarella, grana, basil) and a Quattro Formaggi (mozzarella, grana, fontina, gorgonzola plus caramelized onions) -- both very tasty -- and split a large Farro Salad (with cranberries, walnuts, and raddichio, dressed with maple vinaigrette). Beer for the adults and chocolate milk for the boys. A very tasty lunch. (Yeah, I guess maybe we are all foodies.)

Then we wandered a few blocks back west to il laboratorio del gelato for some ice cream (yes, they offer almost 200 flavors of gelato -- generally
40 or 50 on any particular day -- but the boys were more interested in
their ice cream).
And then we strolled a few blocks to the northeast to Tompkins Square Park
to make use of their playground. It was an absolutely beautiful day --
blue skies and sunshine and warm weather -- and the park was about as full
as I've ever seen it.
All too soon it was time for me to grab a taxi and get back to Penn Station
for my return trip to Rhode Island.
