I'm on my way to JournalCon 2004 in Washington, DC. Well, I will be in just a couple of hours. It's about twenty to five in the morning and I've been up since about four, bumping into furniture and bouncing off walls, struggling to swallow a mug of hot black coffee and to force my eyes to stay open. Nancy and I went to bed about midnight and I didn't sleep very soundly, too wound up about the trip and about getting packing finished (clothing is packed and books and camera stuff and like that has been gathered together but still... what have I forgotten? will I oversleep? what about all the stuff I didn't finish at work despite putting in almost twelve hours on Thursday... etc.) Hope I can grab some sleep on the train. I'm excited about the trip. Nancy is coming with me, although she does not have much interest in online blogs or journals. She'll be wandering around in the Smithsonian and visiting one of her brothers while I'll be in JournalCon activities during the day on Saturday and on Sunday morning. We are catching a seven a.m. train (7:09 a.m.) and should reach Union Station in Washington around two o'clock in the afternoon. I figure we'll get to the hotel and check-in. Conference registration is from four until eight -- we'll be a bit early for that so I'm thinking of heading over to the National Gallery of Art. They currently have a special exhibit of Sanford Gifford, one of the Hudson River School of 19th century landscape artists, which I would really like to see. Here's the planned JournalCon schedule, stolen straight from the conference Web site:
And now I've got to get some breakfast and finish packing, etc.... Expect a report with pictures on Monday or Tuesday... |
