Splish Splash-- 02/06/05

It was sunny and the temperature was in the mid-40s today and I got this crazy idea this afternoon about washing my car. (See two entries back.)

The garden hose on the side of the house was mostly buried under snow but I dug it out and connected it to the faucet and dragged it out straight and turn it on... and nothing came out. The inside of the hose was well-packed with ice.

Okay, grab a house from inside the garage and bring it out and connect it. Take the spray gun type nozzle off the frozen hose and screw it on this one. Turn on the water, attempt to wet down the car. The nozzle has sprung leaks... water sprays on the car.. and up in the air... and off to the left... and on my hand and my arm and in my face...

Okay, forget about washing the car.

Erica sent out the Sunday Brunch e-mail Thursday morning because she was going to be out of town on the weekend. Even having extra time to think about it didn't do much for me with this week's questions.. once I did the first question, that about covered the others..

1) Do you take baths or showers? I take showers. The last time I was in a bath tub was when Nancy was in labor with Jeremy and we were trying for home birth and our midwives suggested Nancy get in a tub full of water with me supporting her. (Jeremy will be twenty in May.) Splish splash, I was taking a bath
Long about a Saturday night
A rub dub, just relaxing in the tub
Thinking everything was alright

2) Do you like the water super hot or just tepid? I like hot water. However, Nancy seems to like it just short of boiling so I have learned to be careful of the temperature setting when she has just used the shower. Well, I stepped out the tub, put my feet on the floor
I wrapped the towel around me
And I opened the door, and then
Splish, splash! I jumped back in the bath
Well how was I to know there was a party going on

3) Do you use bath gel, bath crystals, bubble bath, or other scented stuff? Dial soap. They was a-splishing and a-splashing, reelin' with the feelin'
Moving and a-grooving, rocking and a-rolling, yeah

4) What do you like to do when you take a bath? See question #1 -- I take showers, not baths. Bing bang, I saw the whole gang
Dancing on my living room rug, yeah
Flip flop, they was doing the bop
All the teens had the dancing bug

5) What is your one item essential to a great bath? Aren't there two essential? Water and a tub? I was a rolling and a-strolling, reeling with the feeling
Moving and a-groovin', splishing and a-splashing, yeah

"Splish Splash" -- a million copy hit record for Bobby Darin in 1958. (No, I've not seen "Beyond the Sea" -- but I'll probably rent it sometime.)

(Just finished watching the SuperBowl... so instead of spraying each other with champagne -- or maybe they save that for the locker room? -- the thing now seems to be to dump a many-gallon container of Gatorade on the coach's head.)
