Part 1: The Birth of You

Were you a planned baby?  I don't know -- my parents had been married almost ten years when I was born, so I think if it had not been for the Great Depression I might be even older than I am now..
Were you the first? Yes, older of two.
Were your parents married when you were born? Yes.
What is your birthdate?  4/29/43

Part 2: The Family

How would you describe your family?  From my birth family, there's just my brother and me, but we've got cousins (who are now grandparents and even great-grandparents) plus I married a woman who is one of ten children, so I have a very large extended family..
Are your parents married? Mom died in 1989 and Dad in 1992. They had been married fifty-six years when Mom died..
Siblings or an only child?  One baby brother who won't even reach sixty until towards the end of August. .
What are your siblings names? Charlie -- uh, I mean Charles Edward..
Which parent do you get along with best?  Both of them (except, of course, for a couple of teenage years).
What do you fight about?  n/a.
Do you have step parents? No.

Part 3: The Friends

Do you have more than one best friend?  Yes, but these days I tend to be related (by either blood or marriage) to my best friends.
What do you like to do when you are together? Depends on the friend.
Do you share the same interests?  Enough.
Which friend can you tell anything to?  Most of them..

Part 4: Your Personality

How high/low is your self esteem?  Usualy fairly high (but rightfully so, of course *grin*)
Do you get depressed about things easily?  Not usually.
Are you an extrovert or an introvert?  An extrovert most of the time..
Are you happy?  Yes.
Do you live life to the fullest?  No, but I try..

Part 5: Appearance

Are you comfortable with the way you look?  Well, do I have a choice?
Would you change anything about your appearance if you could?  Drop twenty pounds. Okay, fifteen. Uh, how about ten?
Do you have any piercings besides your ears?  No. (And not my ears, either.)
Describe your hair?  Longer than average and getting grayer all the time..
What make-up do you wear?  None.

Part 6: The Past

Were you a strange child?  I guess so..
What did you use to love that you no longer do?  Run a 5k faster than a 7 minute per mile pace..
Do you have the same friends?  No, except for my brother .
Was there anything in your past that was traumatizing?  No, not beyond reason, just the usual stuff...

Part 7: The Future

What is your dream?  To bounce a great great grandchild on my knee. It would be really cool if I could do that while taking a vacation trip to the Moon or Mars.
Are you scared of growing old? Not afraid of age itself, but of becoming feeble and senile.
Do you want to get married?  We've been married for 27 years....

Part 8: The Outdoors

Do you prefer indoors or outdoors? Depends on the seaon and the weather and what I am doing.
What is your favorite season?  I really enjoy all seasons but I especially like mid-spring thru mid-autumn. (I have been known to go for a run on New Year's Day followed by a swim in Narragansett Bay, so it's not like I don't know how to have fun it the winter -- it's just that I don't tie two pieces of wood to my feet and try to slide down mountains in the winter. You can really trash your knees doing that and I'd rather stay in one piece so I can walk and run and bike.
Favorite weather? Warm and sunny..
Do you like walking in the rain?  Yes, as long as it is because I want to and not because I have to..

Part 9: Food

Are you a vegetarian? No
What is your favorite food?  Too many to name..
What food makes you want to gag?  Insects and weird survivor and fear-factor stuff like that Oh, and things like liver and haggis.
What is your favorite restaurant?  A bunch of them... Mews Tavern in Wakefield, Sakura Japanese restaurant in Providence, the Bistro at 2nd Story Theatre in Warren, CrazyBurger in Narragansett, etc....I like Chinese and Thai and Italian and Japanese and Indian and Pakistani food, English pub food (i.e., fish & chips), American food, Argentine beef, big salads, soups and stews... and grinders (that's what we call subs/hoagies/poorboys in Rhode Island).. I once ate in a Nepalese restaurant (The Yak and Yeti I believe was its name) in Sydney and liked that food too.

Part 10: Experiences

What was one of your greatest experiences?  Becoming a father -- three times -- and a grandfather (just once thus far).
Have you ever done drugs?  Uh, is this being recorded? Nothing more than a little smoking many years ago.
Have you ever thought you were going to die?  There have been a few scary moments.


The Cans

Can you blow a bubble?  With bubble stuff, yes... with bubble-gum, no.
Can you dance?  Not very well, but it is fun and I enjoy it anyway.
Can you do a cart wheel?  No..
Can you touch your tongue to your nose?  Close but not quite... but, uh, oh, nevermind....
Can you touch your toes?  Yes (but it gets more difficult each year)
Can you whistle? Yes.
Can you wiggle your ears?  Yes (and I can cross my eyes too)

The Dids

Did you ever get into a fight in school?  A couple, but nothing major
Did you ever eat a pie? An entire pie? Have made significant inroads but don't think I've ever eaten a full-sized pie at one sitting (no, not even as a kid).
Did you ever run away from home?  No. (Well, I think I planned it out once when I was a kid but I was only four or five, so my plan was to take a blanket to a neighbor's yard... not very well thought-out.)
Did you ever want to be a doctor?  Not really.
Did you ever want to be a fire fighter?  I thought about it..
Did you have a party for your last birthday?  Went out to dinner, last real party was for hitting six-oh..

The Dos

Do you know how to drive?  Yes. (Standard transmission)
Do you like Roller coasters?  No..
Do you own a bike?  Yes, and I rode it today.
Do you think you could handle the stuff they eat on those reality TV shows?  No.
Do you tie your shoes every day? Yes -- I don't own any loafers (although I do sometimes wear moccasins) -- usually wear running shoes..

The Does

Does hair loss run in your family at all?  More on my mother's side than my Dad's -- and I do have more forehead than I used to...
Does your car get good gas mileage?  Yes -- Toyota Corrolla..
Does your family have family picnics?  Yes.

The Has

Has anyone ever given you flowers?  Yes.

The Haves

Have you even been on a plane?  Lots of times.. from single engine private planes to 747s and a wide variety inbetween.
Have you ever been asked out?  Yes..
Have you ever asked someone out?  Yes..
Have you ever been to the Ocean? I grew up about ninety miles up the Hudson River but I never actually was in the ocean swimming until I was in college on Long Island and went to Jones Beach. Now I live in Rhode Island just a few miles from the ocean..
Have you ever gone fishing? Yes, but not since I was a kid.
Have you ever painted your nails?  I think once as a joke decades ago..

The Hows

How many different places have you lived?  Nineteen if you count all addresses (including college) but mostly in three houses -- the one I grew up in, the one Nancy and I owned in Binghamton, NY, and the one we now live in.
How tall are you?  Once upon a time I would have said a bit over five eleven but I think the best I can do now is maybe five ten.

Last song you listened to?  I really don't remember.

Quick how much money do you have on you right now?  My wallet is on my desk so that just means what I have stuffed in my pockets -- probably twenty or thirty dollars. [Okay, just checked and I have a five and a twenty.].

The Whats

What did you wear to bed last night? My original answer was "a pair of shorts and a t-shirt" but then I remembered I took a shower just before bed and it was a warm night so I have to change the answer to "nothing but a sleepy look.".
What do you fear?  Something bad happening to one of my loved ones..
What Radio Station do you listen to?  I almost never listen to radio except in a car -- there are four stations I generally listen to: one AM -- WPRO (talk radio - AM630) and three FM -- WGBH (public radio from Boston 89.7), WCRI (classical music 95.9), and WCTK (country music 98.1))
What was the last book you read? I am currently reading an historical novel -- I, Roger Williams by Mary Lee Settle (before that I read a science fiction novel by Elizabeth Bear -- World Wired -- and a fantasy novel by Naomi Kritzer -- Freedom's Gate -- and a couple of other books and I'm really not sure of the precise order since I sometimes am in the middle of more than one book at a time.)
What was the last restaurant you ate at?  The Mews Tavern, Wakefield, last Friday night.
What was the last thing you bought?  Groceries.
What was the last thing you had to drink?  Coffee.

The Whos

What friend have you known the longest?  My brother.
Who was that last person you IMed?  A guy I work with, work related stuff; but I most often have IM chats with my brother
Who was the last person you talked to on the phone? Three people from work in a regularly scheduled Monday (yesterday) afternoon conference call.
